Her name is Dr. Aisyah Abd al-Rahman who is known as Bint al-Syati’, especially for study of Arabic literature and qur’anic exegesis.  She was born on the west side of the Nile Delta. The name Bint al-Syati’ is a pen name that she uses when writing.

The name was taken because she was born and raised on the edge of the Nile. So the name means to mean a daughter of the bank (river). Bint al-Syati’ grew up among devout and pious Muslim families. Her higher education completed at Fuad I University, Cairo.

Bint al-Syati’ is known for her studies of Arabic literature and qur’anic interpretations. In the 1970s, she was a professor of literature and Arabic at the University of ‘Ain Shams, Egypt.

She is also sometimes a visiting professor at Durman Sudan’s lay university, Qarawiyyin University, Morocco. In addition, in the 1960s, she also had the opportunity to give lectures to scholars in Rome, Algeria, New Delhi, Baghdad, Kuwait, Jerusalem, and Khartoum.

Works by Aisyah Abd al-Rahman

She published works include her study of Abu al-‘A’la al-Ma’ari, al-Khansa’, as well as biographies of the Prophet’s mother, her husbans, daughters, and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her tafsir al-Tafasir al-Bayani lil al-Qur’an al-karim vol.1 (1962) was reprinted in 1966 and 1968. The pirated edition was published in Beirut. Volume II originated from her interpretive book published in 1969 and received an extraordinary reception.

Also, Aisha Abd al-Rahman poly needed to continue the study of her interpretation to include all verses of the Qur’an. Not only limited to the fourteen short letters he had published. Bint al-Syati’s interpretation study methods have an impact on poly people.

She honestly admitted that her method was obtained from her teacher at Fuad I University, later as her husband, Amin al-Khulli (died 1966).
